- 20/11/2008 – Receive email from play.com saying it’s been posted.
- 24/11/2008 – Start watching the post at work in anticipation.
- 28/11/2008 – Start getting pissed off that it hasn’t turned up.
- 01/12/2008 – Look up orders on play.com, discover that while orders usually take “between 3-5 working days” to arrive, you have to wait 21 days before they will do anything about a missing item.
- 07/12/2008 – Get seriously pissed off with the whole thing, order replacement from Amazon.
- 07/12/2008 (later) – receive shipping email from Amazon.
- 09/12/2008 – STILL FUCKING WAITING.
Jesus Christ. This reminds me why I usually shun online delivery services in December. I know if I was to have words with either service in question, or the postal service, I would be told “We are experiencing an unusually high volume of post at this time.” Yes. It’s December, hence Christmas. It happens at the same time every fucking year. You might want to think ahead.

This is exactly the sort of problem I had with Amazon in (iirc) ’03 and ’04. I know they’re probably better now, but it’s too late… I use the little quirky online retailers now, and they somehow manage to get stuff to me in 2 or 3 days, even at this point in December.
Oh, and nice use of that find retro insult “bender”. It’s due a revival, I think

Do not concur. It’s not Appetite For Destruction, but it’s not 1987 either. I think it’s a great album.
I reckon it should be an Axl Rose album, not Guns N Roses, but I still say it’s a great fucking album.
Not my top pick for 2008 though. For that, you’ll have to read my upcoming The Year In Rock post.
You’re right, its a good album but not that good. Definitely not as a Guns album,but an adequate effort for a chap thats only been writnig and recording the thing for 19 weeks. Oh shit, its 19 years. mmmm… his school report would have read “could do better” : )
