Spambot blocking

If you’re anything like me - and I know I am - then you run Wordpress for your blogging activities. You also allow users to register on your site so that they can store their usernames and so forth for next time, but you are getting increasingly pissed off nowadays with the amount of spurious registrations you’re getting from random - often Russian - email addresses.

Sabre to the rescue! I’ve just installed it myself, and it gives you many options to beat these evil bots! You can enable CAPTCHAs, human math tests, registration confirmation by email, or any/all of the above. I’ve gone with just email confirmation for now. I’ll report back in the comments if it doesn’t prove effective for any reason.

UPDATE: without the CAPTCHA or math test, bots still register. They get a password emailed to them, and the admin of the blog gets an email telling them about it.

I have now enabled the math test as well.

    Further updates as deemed necessary.
