Relief

A proper working sewerage system is, like good friendship and working knees, something you only really appreciate properly as soon as it’s gone. Never take for granted the ability to take a good hearty crap any time you like without fear of contradiction, restraint, or backwash.

Here at Murray Estates, there has been a crisis of late which has only today been resolved in a satisfactory manner by that most rare of creatures - the Effective Workman. Two, in fact.

Gone is our outdated ceramic possibly-Victorian “rodding access” (the underside of which was, according to said fellows, broken underground causing snagging and blocking with resultant… um… side-effects) and now we are ushered into the glorious 20th century with a proper and new inspection hatch.

Such has been the grief we have endured over this last week, and indeed on the previous occasion in February,  that I am almost moved to take a photograph of this marvellous installation that you might better understand my joy. But then a) you have not seen its antiquated predecessor, and I cannot show it to you for it has been spirited away, and b) it is just a small manhole cover. You do not need to witness it to understand the levity with which I bring you this missive.

Good morrow,
–c.
