CALLING ALL AMERICANS

…or in fact, anyone who knows anyone who’s going to be in the USA this coming weekend – specifically Boston.

First of all read this edition of that fantastic webcomic, XKCD.

Right – as I posted a while back, the numbers featured in the panel of that comic do indeed correlate to an exact geographical location and an exact time. The first two numbers are longitude and latitude, and they correspond to a street corner in the Somerville district of Boston – the corner of Dudley Street and Cedar Street to be exact.

The other numbers are 2007 09 23 14 38 00, which obviously translates to 2.38pm exactly on 23rd September, 2007 – which is this coming Sunday.

I personally cannot afford to fly to the USA this weekend to see what happens, but please – if anyone reading this is going to be in the area, or knows anyone who is, then please please please go there at the appointed time and report back to me on what happens and/or who is there.

For the record, the writer of XKCD is Randall Monroe and he looks like this:

If he’s there, tell him “Hi” from me.

A Weak Week

I’m pretty disappointed in you lot. Look, here’s my disappointed face (complete with Tache):

Disappointed in all of you except four, that is – Dave, Matt, Paul and Andrew, you four are exempt and I thank you greatly.

I figured that getting five people to donate a few quid to charity wouldn’t be too tricky – it’s for a testicular cancer charity, which I think is a pretty worthy cause myself – but few were forthcoming so I threatened jokingly not to post again until 3 more people had agreed to sponsor me. A week later, only 2 more people have put their hands in their pockets.

Well I’m lifting the blog embargo, but I’m disappointed. Could no-one else manage even a fiver?

UPDATE: Thanks greatly to Nick B for his support, that makes five. That doesn’t mean it has to stop there though! :-D

Where am I?
