Unchosen

So I was pleasantly surprised and impressed that Andy and Garts from The Unchosen came to see us at the Marquee in December, and moreso when they let me have a copy of their album on the cheap. :-)

And I tell you what… it’s fucking great. Garts voice is gutteral and strong, and the fretboard pyrotechnics that you’d expect are pleasantly non-predictable, but what really shines through for me is the strength of the songs and arrangements. Personally I wouldn’t have done a metal cover of a Michael Jackson song, as Alien Ant Farm covered that base off pretty well a few years ago, but hey - even Billie Jean is still eminently listenable and played with a sense of fun too.

Highlights for me at the moment are the opener “Cut My Soul” and the ever-so-slightly Porcupine-Tree-esque “Dreamspell”.

Good British metal, the way it should be. Go buy it.
